What: SENIOR RELIEF BUDDY PROGRAM
When: Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: Area Agency on Aging, 121 Downey Ave., Suite 102
Info: Volunteer training class for the Area Agency on Aging Senior Relief Buddy program. Program allows caregivers a break while seniors interact with trained and certified volunteers. Volunteers must pass a fingerprint background check, attend visitor orientation along with this four- hour class. Volunteer assistance is estimated at three to four hours each time. What: LUNCH AND LEARN PROGRAM

Where: Jacobs Fine Dining, 2501 McHenry Ave.
Info: The League of Women Voters Lunch and Learn Program features guest speaker Ken Adair, professor in the speech communication department at Modesto Junior College and government and economics teacher at Johansen High School. Adair will speak on the topic “Local Education Issues and Young Voters.” Luncheon is chef’s choice and is open to the public. Cost is $13, reservations not required. What: VETERANS STAND DOWN
When: Saturday, Nov. 7 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: American Legion Hall, 1001 S. Santa Cruz Ave.
Info: The veterans stand down event is for homeless and at-risk veterans. Both breakfast and lunch will be served. Clothing will be available for men and women. Resources available will be a dental van, medical van, Social Security information and Employment Development Department services. For more information, call Ruby at (209) 549-2867.
What: DICKENS FAIRE VENDORS
Info: The McHenry Mansion Foundation is seeking craft vendors for the ninth annual Dickens Faire Victorian Christmas Market to be held Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendor spaces are available on 15th Street in front of the mansion and in the park across the street, assigned on a first-come, first served basis. What: BUS TOUR
When: Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Info: The Patterson Garden Club is hosting a bus tour. It will include a visit to Morningsun Herb Farm in Vacaville to browse and shop in its gardenlike nursery. Next stop will be at The Nut Tree for more shopping and a no-host lunch. At 2 p.m., the bus tour will arrive at the UC Davis Conservatory for a private guided tour of its botanical wonders. 100 YEARS AGO: The Turlock Irrigation District was sued for damages in Superior Court, totaling $30,870, by F.M. Hudelson. Hudelson’s ranch was crossed by floodwaters from the Davis Reservoir at the bursting of the dam earlier in the summer.
