What: GENEALOGICAL SEMINAR

Info: The Genealogical Society of Stanislaus County is presenting a seminar, “I’ve DNA tested, now what?” It will offer the opportunity to be instructed by and talk directly to people who successfully accomplished with their DNA test results what you want to do with yours. The morning session will cover updates in genetic genealogy and the afternoon session will be breakouts into one of three specific groups addressing yDNA, mtDNA or Autosomal DNA. What: PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

When: Monday, 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Where: Sutter Gould Health Education and Conference Center, McHenry Village, Suite 60B, 1700 McHenry Ave.

Info: The US-TOO Prostate Cancer Support Group monthly meeting features Sandy Howell from the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program of the California Department of Aging. What: DELWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD ALLIANCE MEETING

Info: The DelWood Neighborhood Alliance and Neighborhood Watch meeting is for volunteers working together to make the neighborhood a safer and better place to live. Keyes

What: FALL FESTIVAL PARADE

When: Saturday, 9 a.m.

Where: Keyes Elementary School, 5680 Seventh St.

Info: The Keyes community has come together to present a Fall Festival Parade, reportedly the first parade for Keyes in 30 years. The grand marshal is Barbara Spratling. The route shall be from the school to the big church on Seventh Street.

What: HALLOWEEN AT HOGWARTS EVENT

When: Thursday, 3 to 5 p.m.

Where: Keyes branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 4420 Maud Ave.

Info: Muggles and wizards alike are invited to celebrate Halloween at Hogwarts. Individuals of all ages can visit and participate in craft making, pose for a picture, take a potion-making class and sample sweet treats. Individuals are invited to come in costume, but costumes are not required. For more information, call the Keyes library at (209) 664-8006.

YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: The Modesto Symphony Orchestra began its 10th anniversary with a concert in the Modesto High School auditorium. The soloist for the night was Stephen Kemalyan, a San Francisco baritone. Just 80 attended the first concert for the symphony 10 years prior, then led by professor Frank Mancini, the symphony’s conductor and founder.
