Modesto releases names of panel members
Modesto has released the names of the people who served on a community panel that interviewed interim City Manager Jim Holgersson on Monday for the permanent job. Mayor Garrad Marsh said these people served on the panel:
▪ City Ministry Network CEO Marvin Jacobo
▪ PMZ Real Estate CEO Mike Zagaris
▪ Stanislaus County Superintendent of Schools Tom Changnon
▪ Modesto site supervisor Yamilet Valladolid with El Concilio, Council for the Spanish Speaking
▪ Julie Orona with Never Boring Design
▪ Doug Highiet with the La Loma Neighborhood Association
▪ Chamber of Commerce CEO Cecil Russell
▪ Memorial Medical Center CEO Daryn Kumar
▪ Oscar Cabello with Wells Fargo Bank
▪ Former Modesto Irrigation District board member Jeff Cowan
▪ Evan Porges with Prime Shine Carwash
Marsh said Coleen Sparkman with The Kendall Centers and Therapeutic Pathways, Orville Wright Elementary School Principal Heather Sherburn and Carole Collins with the Stanislaus Multi-Cultural Community Health Coalition West Modesto King-Kennedy Neighborhood Collaborative were selected for the panel but were not able to attend. He said Modesto tried to get representatives from industry and county government to serve.
Modesto released the names in response to a California Public Records Act request filed by government watchdog Emerson Drake.
After the panel interviewed Holgersson on Monday, City Council members voted 7-0 to enter into contract negotiations with him. The contract is expected to come before the council in November for approval.
Holgersson has been interim city manager since May and came to Modesto from the San Jose office of the government consulting firm of Management Partners. He was one of five candidates the council wanted to interview for city manager but the others dropped out or could not make an Oct.13 interview with council members, leaving Holgersson as the only finalist heading into Monday’s interview with the community panel.
