Mosquito-control spraying to take place over parts of Modesto on Tuesday night
Aerial mosquito control applications will take place over parts of north, northeast and southwest Modesto between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The aerial spraying is used to reduce mosquito populations and lower the risk of mosquito-borne viruses and disease. The West Nile virus, which spreads from mosquito bites, has been detected in Stanislaus County. While mosquito samples tested positive, no human cases have been reported as of the end of June.
The proposed treatment area is 8,779 acres and includes In-N-Out Burger at the intersection of Sylvan Avenue and Oakdale Road, Raley’s on Floyd Avenue, the Walmart Supercenter on McHenry Avenue, sections west of Standiford Avenue and McHenry Avenue, and around Paradise Road between South Carpenter Road and Highway 99.
Any impacts of the product are temporary and clear in a few minutes, according to the East Side Mosquito Abatement District. Anyone with questions can call 209-522-4098 or visit www.eastsidemosquito.com.
In case of inclement weather, the spraying will occur between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, instead.
