Key street in downtown Modesto is back open after more than a year. What to know
After more than a year, 10th Street between G and H streets is now reopened to traffic in downtown Modesto.
The street has been closed since June 2025, according to the city. The closure was due to the new Stanislaus County courthouse construction located between Ninth, 10th, G and H streets.
The city has no current plans to close the street again, Public Relations and Legislative Affairs Manager Sonya Severo said in an email.
Construction on the $352 million courthouse is now expected to be completed by the fall, but this date has been delayed at least four times from December 2024, March and June 2025 and spring this year. Construction began in 2021, according to previous Bee reporting.
The new 309,284 square-foot courthouse will replace the existing Modesto, Ceres and Turlock courthouses, the Hall of Records building and three leased facilities.
In other traffic news, the Crows Landing Road closure at the Zeff Development is expected to be completed by Friday, July 10, according to a weekly traffic impact report. It has been closed since June 24.
