Sheriff’s office arrest 4 for shooting guns into the air near Highway 99 in Salida

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple reports of gunfire in Salida on June 13, arresting four individuals who were drinking alcohol and discharging a firearm. A video posted by the Sheriff’s Office shows the four taking turns indiscriminately firing a gun into the air near Kiernan and Zinfandel Avenues.

Law enforcement said on the video that the four were shooting toward Highway 99 and the center of Salida. As officers approached the property the four individuals were on, one attempted to hide the gun in a refrigerator. After detaining the four, officers recovered the gun.

The Sheriff’s Office used drone technology to find the four, who were taken to the Public Safety Center and booked on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm. The Facebook post asked county residents to celebrate this upcoming July Fourth safely.
