CHP investigating fatal crash in Modesto area. 3 vehicles, 8 patients involved
One person is reported dead after a fiery, three-vehicle crash on Ladd Road north of Modesto on Saturday night, authorities report.
At 10:09 p.m., the CHP Modesto office posted on Facebook that it was on scene of the crash on Ladd just east of Tully Road. The area is near Salida Fire Station 13 and south of Del Rio.
A Modesto Fire Department incident report says three vehicles were involved, with one on fire. A mass-casualty incident pre-alert was issued to prepare hospitals. The MFD summary says there were eight patients: “One patient was declared deceased on scene, one ... was flown to a nearby trauma center and the remaining patients were transported to local area hospitals for further care.”
The road was closed for the investigation but reopened at about 11:55 p.m.
