More than 40 vape devices and other tobacco-related products have been confiscated at Turlock Junior High School during the just-ended school year, according to the Turlock Police Department.

The department shared a photo on social media last week showing dozens of items collected by school staff and the campus school resource officer between August 2025 and the end of the 2025-26 school year.

“Parents and guardians: check your kids,” the department wrote in the post.

According to Turlock Police spokesperson Dominique Roton, all the items pictured were confiscated at Turlock Junior High School.

“Over 40-plus items were seized,” Roton said. “More were found after the picture was taken.”

The collection included nicotine-related vaping devices, tobacco products and items containing THC or cannabis, Roton said.

The department said youth vaping continues to be a growing concern.

Asked whether police have seen an increase in vaping incidents involving young people in recent years, Roton responded, “Yes. It is a nationwide issue.”

In its social media post, the department noted that many modern vaping products are intentionally designed to look colorful, discreet and easy to conceal, with some resembling everyday objects.

Police said many of the devices contain high levels of nicotine and other chemicals that can affect developing brains and lead to addiction.

The department said the goal of sharing the photo was to increase awareness among parents and guardians.

“Our goal was simply to raise awareness,” Roton said. “These devices were confiscated because school staff and our school resource officer are actively identifying them and taking action.”

Roton said police hope the image helps parents recognize what vaping products look like and encourages conversations at home.

“Addressing youth vaping requires awareness, communication, and partnership between schools, parents, and the community,” Roton said.

The department was unable to provide statistics on vaping-related incidents, confiscations, citations or referrals involving students in Turlock schools.

The Turlock Police Department and Turlock Unified School District have encouraged parents to remain aware of the products students may be carrying and to discuss the health risks associated with vaping and tobacco use.
