South Modesto pedestrian killed when struck by two cars, police report
An adult male pedestrian died at the scene after being struck by two, possibly three, vehicles in south Modesto on Saturday night, Modesto police report.
The crash happened at about 8:50 p.m. on West Hatch Road between Boise Avenue and Dallas Street, Traffic Unit Sgt. Kyle Johnson said Sunday.
The person struck, a man estimated to be 30 years old, reportedly was in the middle of the road when struck by 2017 Honda Accord and a 2018 Nissan Altima, Johnson said. Both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, he said.
Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate the man was struck by a third vehicle as well: a dark pickup truck. That driver did not stay at the scene.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to email Officer Cody Chesney at chesneyc@modestopd.com.
Johnson noted that this is the third investigation of a fatal collision this year. By this time last year, the department was on its eighth investigation of a deadly crash, he said.
