GoFundMe created for Turlock teenager killed in Highway 99 tree collision
A GoFundMe page has been created for the Turlock teenager killed when he crashed into a tree off northbound Highway 99 in Turlock on March 31.
Carson Souza, 19, the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.
“Our hearts are absolutely broken as we share the devastating loss of our son Carson,” reads the GoFundMe. “Carson was deeply loved by his family, friends and everyone who knew his sweet soul. There are simply no words that can ease the pain of such an unimaginable loss. Coming together as close friends and community to support our family during this incredibly difficult time has been such a blessing.”
California Highway Patrol officers had received a call at about 12:23 a.m. reporting a crash just north of West Main Street.
According to preliminary investigations, Souza had been traveling north in the No. 1 lane when his Chevrolet SUV veered to the right, left the roadway and struck a tree. The impact caused the SUV to catch fire.
As of April 8, the family has raised $30,550 of its goal of $35,000. On Sunday, the organizers had increased the goal by $5,000 to further support the family.
“We are overwhelmed and so grateful for the love and support shown to Carson’s family,” wrote Aleece Marson, one of the organizers.
