Firefighters battle early morning blaze on Mariposa Road. Cause under investigation
A commercial structure fire broke out early Monday morning in Modesto, drawing a large response and threatening nearby properties, authorities said.
Crews from the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District were dispatched at about 2:49 a.m. to the 600 block of Mariposa Road following reports of a working structure fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found a commercial building fully involved, with heavy flames throughout the structure.
Due to the intensity of the fire and the immediate threat to a nearby pallet yard, crews quickly shifted to a defensive strategy aimed at containing the blaze and protecting surrounding properties.
Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines and worked to keep the fire confined to the original structure, preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings. Crews remained on scene for several hours conducting suppression efforts and overhaul operations.
A total of six engines, two quints, two battalion chiefs and the Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit responded to the incident.
No injuries were immediately reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
