Update: Oakdale woman killed in head-on crash on Highway 108/120 ID’d by coroner
A woman was killed Thursday afternoon in a head-on crash on Highway 108/120 west of Kennedy Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at about 2:56 p.m. on Feb. 19. When emergency personnel arrived, they found two vehicles with major damage, CHP said in a news release.
The woman killed was driving a 2013 Subaru sedan west on State Route 108/120 when, for reasons still under investigation, she crossed over solid double yellow lines and entered the eastbound lane directly into the path of a 2019 Tesla sedan, CHP said. The vehicles collided head-on.
The Subaru driver, identified by the Coroner’s Office as Julie Mullins, 48, of Oakdale, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tesla driver, a 28-year-old Ceres man, suffered major injuries. So did his three passengers: a Manteca woman, 24; a Modesto man, 26; and a Ceres woman, 28.
All four were taken to Oak Valley Medical Center for treatment, CHP said.
Investigators said all parties involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. It remains unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
State Route 108/120 was temporarily closed in the area while officers investigated the collision. Traffic was detoured with minimal delay, CHP said.
The crash remains under investigation.
