Stanislaus Sheriff’s deputy, minor sent to hospital after collision

Modesto Fire Department

A traffic collision in Oakdale involving a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office deputy sent three people to the hospital on Tuesday, according to the Oakdale Police Department.

The collision happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Yosemite Avenue and E Street. The intersection does not have left-turn lanes, stop signs or signals for vehicles travelling along Yosemite.

When paramedics and OPD officers arrived, they found three people with injuries — the deputy, another adult and a juvenile. OPD’s press release did not state how old the juvenile was.

The deputy and the other adult were taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. However, the juvenile was airlifted with “minor to moderate” injuries, according to the Modesto Fire Department.

OPD believes the deputy was going through the intersection while travelling north on Yosemite as the other vehicle was going south. The collision happened when the other vehicle turned left onto E Street and “into the path of the deputy,” according to OPD.

“The collision is currently under investigation by the Oakdale Police Department Traffic Unit,” read OPD’s release. “The investigation remains ongoing, as further details and evidence are being collected.”
