A 67-year-old Patterson woman died Sunday afternoon when her sport uitlity vehicle collided with another SUV that ran a stop sign on Highway 33 two miles south of Patterson, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Ida Perez was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Stanislaus County coroner officials.
The crash occurred about 1 p.m. on Highway 33 and Marshall Road.
Perez was driving a 2003 Toyota Highlander south on the highway. Silvia Moreno, 62, of Patterson, was a passenger in the Highlander.
Kendall Schene, 19, of Modesto, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban west on Marshall, and the CHP said she ran the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 33.
The Suburban’s front end struck the left side of the Highlander.
Moreno suffered major injuries and was taken by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, according to the CHP.
Schene suffered moderate injuries, but told officers she would seek medical treatment on her own.
Schene was not arrested at the scene, and the crash was still under investigation.
The CHP said alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
