Ceres roads will be closed for parade celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Friday is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and St. Jude Church in Ceres will observe the holy day with a procession and parade through the city. Drivers should make alternate plans if they are planning to drive on or near the parade route.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. at Smyrna Park on Moffett and Fowler Road and proceed southbound on Ninth Street, crossing Whitmore Avenue and Roeding Road before turning onto Frontage Road and proceeding down Don Pedro Road, crossing Mitchell Road.
The parade will include dancers from Danzas Aztecas and Ballet Folklorio and performances from Banda Los Bohemios De Culiacan. There will be a Mass in Spanish at 6 p.m.
The procession will conclude at St. Jude Catholic Church, 3824 Mitchell Road.
The observance will end around 9 p.m. and the church expects around 800 people to attend. Those interested in participating are encouraged to join the procession.
