An alleged drunk driver fled the scene after a head-on collision in Oakdale on Thursday before being caught by authorities, the CHP reported.

According to a California Highway Patrol Facebook post, Navin Sharma Kumar was driving a Mercedes that “collided head-on with another vehicle on River Road (Oakdale), sending two family members to the hospital with major injuries.”

“Mr. Kumar fled the scene and was later apprehended by the CHP — Modesto,” the post said.

He was booked into the Stanislaus County jail for felony DUI, felony hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, the CHP reported.
