Friends celebrate the life of stabbing victim Ernie Hernandez Jr.

Sisk Road Stabbing Suspect
Modesto Police Department detectives released surveillance video of a suspect wanted in connection with the Aug. 14 fatal stabbing of Ernie Hernandez Jr., in Modesto, CA

Friends of Ernie Hernandez gathered Friday to remember the 37-year-old man stabbed to death near Vintage Faire Mall last week.

The celebration of his life at Howard Training Center in Modesto drew many who, like Hernandez, had been helped by the center, which serves the developmentally disabled, as well as his co-workers from the California Department of Transportation.

Those who attended could sign a card for him and released balloons in his memory.

Police still are looking for two men believed to have been involved in Hernandez’s death.
