UPDATE: Oakdale driver who died at scene of Albers Road crash ID’d by coroner

California Highway Patrol

A three-vehicle crash Saturday night on Albers Road south of Oakdale killed one driver, the California Highway Patrol reports.

The crash south of Valk Road happened about 8:45 p.m..

According to a news release, the preliminary CHP investigation determined the driver of a 1999 Chevrolet pickup, identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as 30-year-old Oakdale resident Enrique Valadez, was traveling south on Albers Road. Behind him was a Honda Accord, and approaching in a northbound lane was a Volvo tractor-trailer rig.

Valadez unsafely turned to the left and crashed into the left front of the big rig. The impact caused the Volvo to turn left and collide with the Honda. “It is believed alcohol may have been a factor in this traffic crash,” the CHP release says.

Valadez was pronounced dead at scene. The drivers of the Volvo tractor-trailer and the Honda were uninjured, the CHP release says, though a Modesto Fire Department incident summary says they suffered “minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals.”

All drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
