Teen Hall of Fame: Kyler Wilson, Central Catholic High School
Editor’s note: This story was originally published on Nov. 3, 2011.
One of the most well-rounded, hardest-working and trustworthy guys you will ever meet, Kyler sure has accomplished a lot over the past few years. From the start of his freshman year, he’s been on the varsity basketball and baseball teams and even plays on a travel baseball team.
This school year, Kyler is one of the captains of the basketball team and a part of his school’s Senior Ministry Team, which aims to help others on and off campus. Even with his hectic schedule, Kyler still finds time to give back to his community and maintains a 3.8 GPA.
Over the course of his high school career, he has completed more than 200 hours of community service and continues to serve as a positive example for his peers at CCHS and younger siblings at home. However, the one thing that really sets him apart from the rest of his class is that he is the only one to receive the WE award, which is given out at the end of every school year to a select few students who put others before themselves and who continue to help their community in any way they can.
Kyler also received the Scholar Athlete, Golden Scholar Athlete and Academic Block CC awards. He credits his parents for his success and thanks them for everything that they have done for him and for always pushing him to do his best, because he knows that one day, it is going to pay off.
Upon graduating from Central Catholic, Kyler hopes to attend college on a baseball scholarship and major in kinesiology.
