Stanislaus Board of Supervisors watch
The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday:
Named Assistant County Counsel John Doering as county counsel, replacing longtime County Counsel Michael Krausnick. The board met in closed session Tuesday to discuss the position, and unanimously voted to name Doering to the position. He will take the position on the date of Krausnick's retirement, March 28. Doering's salary will be set by the supervisors at a later meeting.

- Adopted an expenditure plan for the proposed projects to be listed for unincorporated areas in the transportation sales tax program. The half-cent sales tax measure is expected to be put on the November ballot. It would raise $700 million over 20 years for roads and transportation projects, if approved by two-thirds of county voters. An attempt at a similar tax failed 18 months ago. The county's share of the proposed sales tax would be $77.6 million, or about $3.9 million a year. In the plan are new traffic signals, road widening, bridge maintenance and replacement, and road resurfacing.
