Will Fourth of July delay garbage pickup in Modesto?

Modesto’s garbage and recycling services are handled by Gilton Solid Waste Management and Bertolotti Disposal Service, according to the city website.

These haulers only observe four holidays in 2025:

  • New Year’s Day, Jan. 1
  • Independence Day, July 4
  • Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday of November
  • Christmas Day, Dec. 25

When will my garbage be picked up?

If your trash pickup day falls on an observed holiday, including Independence Day, your designated pickup day will be adjusted.

“These holidays may cause your service to be delayed by one day during the appropriate week,” the city website says.

In Modesto, garbage trucks typically operate 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

When a holiday falls on a weekday, collections shift by one business day.

Since the Fourth of July lands on a Friday in 2025, residents will have their trash picked up on Monday, July 7.
