Woman dies after being struck by car on McHenry Avenue in Modesto

A 55-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle last week near McHenry and Fairmont avenues, according to the Modesto Police Department.

The woman, identified as Gail McKee, formerly of Stockton, was hit by a 2014 Kia Optima around 9:10 p.m. on June 4. She was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and died two days later.

Police say the driver remained at the scene, called 911, and showed no signs of impairment. A preliminary investigation found the vehicle had been traveling north on McHenry Avenue when the collision occurred.
