Sword swallower among highlights of Modesto area summer performances for families

Families can enjoy a series of performances held at various Stanislaus County Library locations this summer.

The library’s Summer Performer Series in June and July is “designed to foster learning and exploration for local children and their families,” according to a press release.

The events — two of which also will be held at the Modesto Certified Farmers Market — are free to attend.

Here’s a look at the performance series schedule, according to the release:

“Didgeridoo Down Under” combines didgeridoo rhythms, percussive beats, storytelling and audience participation. Participants will learn about Australian music, how didgeridoos are made and more.

Ceres Library: Monday, June 2, 4 p.m.

Denair Library: Tuesday, June 3, noon

Newman Library: Tuesday, June 3, 3:30 p.m.

Keyes Library: Wednesday, June 4, 1 p.m.

Patterson Library: Wednesday, June 4, 3:30 p.m.

Waterford Library: Thursday, June 5, 10 a.m.

Riverbank Pop-Up Library: Thursday, June 5, 12:30 p.m.

Empire Library: Thursday, June 5, 3 p.m.

“Uncle Jer’s Traveling Bee Show” will teach about the society of bees and offer a chance to see live bees in a hive.

“Cruzin’ Critters” is a Turlock-based nonprofit animal education organization that will educate audiences in an interactive show.

“These events reflect our commitment to our roles as a cultural center and community hub,” said Children’s and Teen Services Librarian Jessica Geiss. “In bringing these shows to our community, families will have opportunities to learn together and connect through experiences that spark curiosity as much as they entertain.”
