Happy Earth Day! See Modesto enjoy early celebration in park

Though Earth Day is Tuesday, April 22, the holiday was celebrated early in Modesto with an event at Graceada Park on Saturday. Hundreds of visitors gathered for Earth Day in the Park to get free eco-friendly wares and information on how to increase their positive impact on the planet.

Among the participants were the Modesto Irrigation District, Stanislaus County Environmental Resources and District 5 city councilmember, Jeremiah Williams.

The Modesto Bee was present, offering cookies, coloring sheets and an opportunity to provide information about water quality concerns in Stanislaus County. Scoopy, Modesto Bee’s resident bumblebee, took photos with the kids.

To continue the theme of conservation, Love Modesto will hold volunteer cleanups throughout Stanislaus County on Saturday, April 26, 2025. There are still slots open for alley cleanups in west Modesto and to assist with Church of the Cross community Garden.
