Car crashes into Modesto bank, ends up upside-down inside. Driver hospitalized
A car crashed into a Chase Bank in northwest Modesto on Wednesday afternoon, sending one person to the hospital.
The incident happened just after 3 p.m. on the 2900 block of Standiford Avenue, according to the Modesto Fire Department. The vehicle was traveling south on Dale Road before it hit the north side of the building and landed upside down inside the bank, coming to rest against the building’s main electrical panel.
One person was trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters secured utilities and extricated the driver, who was taken to a local hospital. A passenger had minor injuries and declined treatment.
No bank employees or customers were hurt.
Twelve firefighters responded, as well as Modesto Police Department officers and American Medical Response personnel. PG&E and the Modesto Irrigation District responded to secure utilities to the entire building.
The cause of the collision is under investigation, according to MPD.
