Update: Riverbank woman dies from injuries after Briggsmore Avenue crash in Modesto
One of the two people involved in a crash that occurred Monday, Feb. 10, on Briggsmore Avenue near Claus Road has died from her injuries.
Around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a solo vehicle crash in which one occupant had been ejected, according to the Modesto Police Department. There were two occupants, one with major injuries and the other with life-threatening injuries.
The passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Guadalupe Hernandez of Riverbank, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver, 34-year-old Anthony Avalos of Modesto, also suffered major injuries but is expected to survive, according to police.
Avalos was traveling west on East Briggsmore Avenue in a Dodge Dakota when the truck crossed the railroad tracks at Santa Fe Avenue, according to MPD. Avalos lost control, causing the truck to leave the roadway and crash into a tree.
