Renovations to Modesto park playground are complete. See the treehouse-themed structures
Six Modesto park playgrounds either have been or will be renovated using Measure H funding, and the most recently completed projected is now open to the public.
Lakewood Park, at 1000 Eastridge Drive, celebrated its grand reopening Saturday. Part of the $10.1 million of Measure H dollars allocated for parks and recreation was used to build Lakewood’s new playground.
Measure H is a voter-approved, 1 cent sales tax increase used to fund general city services. It passed in November 2022.
The theme of the Lakewood Park playground was chosen after a voting process that took place from Nov. 17 to Dec. 8, 2023. A total of 404 votes were received and the winning concept — a treehouse theme — received 70% of the votes, according to the city of Modesto.
Other Modesto park playgrounds that are part of the Measure H renovation project are:
Aqueduct Park playground, 3725 Carver Road, is completed and open to the public. The winning concept was whimsical theme.
City Gate Children’s Park playground, 2900 Standiford Ave., is completed and open to the public. The winning concept was island theme.
Orchard Park playground, 2200 Lincoln Oak Drive, is under construction and will be closed until completed. The winning concept was castle theme.
