Update: Modesto man dies following crash on Orangeburg Avenue in Modesto, police report
A Modesto man died from injuries suffered in a collision on West Orangeburg Avenue on Thursday morning, Modesto police report.
The two-vehicle crash was shortly after 10 a.m. near Evergreen Drive. That’s a curved stretch of Orangeburg just east of where it meets West Briggsmore Avenue near Highway 99.
According to a news release, the preliminary investigation indicates that a black Ford Mustang going east on Orangeburg collided with a Dodge Ram near the Evergreen intersection.
Officers found the Mustang’s driver, 34-year-old Kelvin Watson, suffering major injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The Ram’s driver and passenger were uninjured. All involved are from Modesto.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
