Motorcyclist dies after collision with car in Modesto late Tuesday night

A Modesto motorcyclist died from injuries he suffered in a collision with a car Tuesday night, the Modesto Police Department reports.

The collision was at Sylvan Avenue and Carson Oak Drive, about a quarter mile west of Oakdale Road, about 7:30 p.m. Responding emergency personnel found the critically injured motorcyclist down the roadway.

He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified him Wednesday as 46-year-old Christopher Cross.

The Modesto Police Department reported it still is investigating the cause of the incident.
