What’s in the forecast for Modesto on New Year’s Eve?
After some morning fog, Modesto will be sunny on Tuesday, Dec. 31 — New Year’s Eve — with a high temperature near 52 degrees and winds around 6 mph, according to the National Weather Service’s latest seven-day forecast.
The temperature will drop as low as 38 degrees on Tuesday night, when calm winds and partly cloudy skies are expected.
“Cold overnight and early morning temperatures are expected through New Year’s, with chances for rain later in the week,” the weather service posted on X. “Remember to grab a coat before heading out to celebrate!”
Will it rain in Modesto on New Year’s Day?
The first day of the new year — Wednesday, Jan. 1 — will be mostly sunny, with a high near 54 and light wind gusts, the weather service said.
Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy, with an overnight low of 41.
Rain was not expected to dampen New Year’s Eve or Day plans for Modesto resident despite a “weak system” developing throughout the Pacific Northwest, the weather service said.
Chances for more than a 10th of an inch of rain were 30% to 45% in the northern Sacramento Valley, the agency said.
What will the weather be like the rest of the week?
Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 67 and a low around 44.
The Modesto area will see “mostly dry weather,” the weather service said, although “areas in the northern Sacramento Valley and adjacent terrain could see some light precipitation as a larger troughing pattern progresses towards northern California.”
There is a slight chance of rain before and after 10 a.m. Friday, when the high will be near 59.
The low is expected to be around 46 on Friday night.
“The majority of precipitation with this system currently looks to happen closer to the weekend,” the weather service said. “Otherwise, throughout the week, expect patchy frost and fog but otherwise dry and mild weather.”
Saturday is forecast to be partly sunny, with a high near 56 and a low around 42.
Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high of around 56 degrees.
