Helicopter responds to vehicle on railroad tracks in east Modesto. One person airlifted

Emergency units responded shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday to a vehicle on the railroad tracks at Terminal Avenue and Claus Road just outside Modesto.

According to preliminary information, an occupant thrown from the vehicle was unresponsive and bleeding from the head. A helicopter was dispatched and transported the patient to a hospital.

Authorities asked for stoppage of trains on the railroad while the vehicle was removed from the tracks.

Information on how the accident occurred was not immediately available. The Modesto Bee will have more on this incident.
