Pedestrian killed in early morning hit-and-run on Paradise Road in Modesto

Early Sunday morning, Modesto Police Department responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of Paradise Road and Leon Avenue.

Upon arrival at about 2:36 a.m., officers found a man dead in the roadway.

Witnesses reported that a black sedan struck the pedestrian and then fled westbound on Paradise Road. Preliminary findings indicate the pedestrian was crossing Paradise Road northbound at Leon Avenue when he was hit by the westbound vehicle.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified the man, but his name is being withheld pending family notification.
