Triple-digit temperatures expected to return to Modesto area. How long will the heat last?

Triple-digit temperatures are expected to return to Modesto, bringing “widespread moderate heat risk” to the area, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather agency issued a heat advisory for Northern California — including Modesto — warning of “hot temperatures (of) 97 to 106 degrees expected with warm overnight lows in the 60s to mid 70s.”

The heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Northern California can expect wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph and daytime humidity levels of 10% to 20% on Monday, Sept. 30, and Tuesday, the agency wrote in a post on X, formerly called Twitter.

Humidity levels will rise to 20% to 50% overnight throughout the region, the weather service said.

When will Modesto see wind gusts, humidity?

According to the weather agency, Modesto will see wind gusts ranging from 7 to 11 mph on Monday and Tuesday.

The Modesto area will also see relative humidity on Monday and Tuesday, the weather agency said.

There will be about 25% to 38% humidity from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday and roughly 24% to 53% on Tuesday.

What’s in the weather forecast for Modesto?

The weather service’s latest seven-day weather forecast for Modesto calls for clear, sunny skies on Monday and Tuesday.

The high temperature will be near 92 degrees on Monday, with a low temperature around 65.

On Tuesday, the high will near 99 and the overnight low will be around 68.

Wednesday’s forecast shows a high near 100, with a low around 67.

The high will be near 99 on Thursday and the low will be around 68.

Friday will see partly cloudy skies, with a high near 98 and a low around 69.

Saturday’s high will near 93. The low will be around 67.

Will the heat continue next week?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center is predicting above-average temperatures in Northern California for the week of Oct. 7-13.
