Is 100-degree heat returning to Modesto? What’s in store for Labor Day? See latest forecast
Though the start of fall is just around the corner, temperatures in the Central Valley are set to soar again, according to the National Weather Service.
The Central Valley will experience “a slight warming trend” this week, weather service meteorologist Katrina Hand said Tuesday morning.
High temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s are forecast for the Modesto region this week heading into the Labor Day holiday weekend, Hand said.
Will the Central Valley have another heat wave before the end of summer?
Here’s what the latest forecast shows:

On Thursday, the high will be near 97. The low will be around 65.

“It will be overall pleasant weather conditions over the holiday weekend,” Hand said.
Saturday’s forecast shows clear and sunny skies, with a high near 93 degrees and a low around 64.
On Sunday, the high will be near 90 and the low will be around 63.
“For Labor Day, we’re looking at high temperatures around 90 degrees with dry conditions and generally light winds with an afternoon breeze,” Hand said.
Will the Central Valley have another heat wave?
“It looks like we will see another warm-up mid to late next week,” Hand said.
As the Central Valley gets closer to the start of fall, she said the region is less likely to experience any major heat events.
“But they can and have happened before in the month of September,” Hand said. “We just always encourage people to keep an eye on the forecast.”
