Modesto man killed in rollover crash on McGee Avenue. Here’s what we know

One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash off McGee Avenue north of Rice Road at around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Modesto resident Eddie Dutra, 59, was identified as the man who died in the crash.

Dutra was driving on McGee Avenue when, for unknown reasons, his 2010 Chevrolet SUV veered to the right and crashed into a dirt embankment before rolling over, according to the CHP.

He died at the scene and was taken to the Stanislaus County Coroner.

As of Friday morning, it was not known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the CHP report. No other people were injured or killed.
