Driver injured in west Modesto crash
A 31-year-old man was hospitalized after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed early Sunday in west Modesto.
The injured driver was listed in critical condition, but he was expected to survive, said Modesto police Lt. Brandon Gillespie.
The crash occurred about 3:45 a.m. near Maze Boulevard and Fifth Street. Gillespie said the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed through a fence before hitting a tree.
There were no passengers in the vehicle, and there were no other vehicles involved. Investigators were trying to determine whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
