Dense fog advisory issued for Modesto region. Here’s when — and how long it will last
Modesto commuters should beware of dense fog Tuesday morning that could potentially lead to “hazardous driving conditions” throughout the area.
The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory for 1 to 9 a.m in the northern San Joaquin Valley, Sacramento Valley, portions of the Delta and the northeast foothills. This includes Redding, Chico, Yuba City, Stockton and Modesto.
“Be cautious while driving along interstates such as Interstate 5, Interstate 80, State Route 99, and Highway 50 where dense fog can cause traffic delays,” the weather service stated in the advisory.
The advisory warns drivers to slow down, use their low-beam headlights and increase their following distance.
Drivers will have a visibility distance of a quarter mile or less, according to the weather service’s post on X, formerly called Twitter.
“Remember to slow down, allow extra time to reach your destination safely, increase following distance, and use low beam headlights if you encounter fog!” the weather service wrote on X.
