RV becomes engulfed in flames at a south Modesto gas station, fire spreads to pumps
A vehicle fire at a gas station in south Modesto on Monday afternoon became even more dangerous as it spread to nearby pumps, according to the Modesto Fire Department.
About 4:30 p.m., an RV ignited at a Chevron station located on the 1500 block of Herndon Road. When the first Fire Department engine crew arrived at the scene, it found the RV fully involved and called for backup.
“Crews quickly contained and extinguished the fire with damage to several pumps and a large overhang,” read the Fire Department’s incident summary.
The cause of the fire was not confirmed by the Fire Department and is under investigation.
Two people were transported to a local emergency room. The extent of their injuries was unknown as of Tuesday morning.
