A 66-year-old woman has died from her injuries after being struck by a vehicle Jan. 3 as she walked across Tully Road in a crosswalk, Modesto police reported.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Modesto resident Joni Paige. She died Jan. 5 at Doctors Medical Center. The Police Department announced the woman’s death in a Facebook post Thursday.

Lt. Felton Payne said the woman was in the crosswalk when she was struck around noon. The driver, who also is a 66-year-old woman, remained at the scene, according to the post. Police did not release her name.

The post states Paige was walking west on Bowen as she crossed Tully. The driver also was heading west and was making a left turn onto Tully when she hit Paige. The post states drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident.

Witnesses are asked to contact traffic safety officer Brad Beavers at BeaversB@Modestopd.com.
