The U.S. Transportation Security Administration is holding a pop-up event for its PreCheck security screening program at the Modesto City-County Airport, the city announced Monday.

TSA PreCheck allows travelers to get through airport security checks without removing their shoes, light jackets or belts or taking their laptops and liquids — containers holding three ounces or less stored in one quart-sized plastic bag — out of their luggage.

It initially costs $78 to enroll in the program for five years, according to the TSA website.

Renewing your membership for an additional five years costs $70 if you renew online or $78 if you do it in person.

Those who attend the TSA event should expect to spend nine to 12 minutes enrolling in PreCheck, excluding potential wait time at the site prior to being served, according to the TSA.

If you begin your application online, finishing the enrollment process at the event may take less time.

Passengers 75 and older already receive modified screening procedures in standard screening lanes, according to the TSA.

However, they still can choose to enroll in order to receive the full benefits of TSA PreCheck expedited screening.

When is the TSA PreCheck enrollment event?

The event will be held at Modesto City-County Airport, 617 Airport Way in Modesto, from Monday, Jan. 22, through Friday, Feb. 2.

You can enroll for TSA PreCheck in the Airport Conference Room from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday during that time period.

What to bring with you to the Modesto Airport

You’ll need to bring photo identification and a birth certificate to apply for enrollment in TSA PreCheck.

You may have to provide supplemental documentation if the name on your ID and the name on your birth certificate differ.

To determine the exact documents you need to bring to the event, visit the TSA website.
