Stanislaus coroner seeks public’s help in finding family of man who died New Year’s Day

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office is trying to locate family of a man who died in Modesto on New Year’s Day.

James Richard Lawton, who the coroner says was a transient from Modesto or the Bay Area, died Monday, Jan. 1, at the age of 72.

Any relatives, or people who know how to reach them, are urged to call the Coroner’s Office at 209-567-4480.
