Twenty-three Stanislaus State University students have been relocated after their door rooms sustained water damage Thursday afternoon from a broken sprinkler head.

Someone hung something on the sprinkler head causing it to break and gush water around 1:30 p.m., according to a Fire Department incident report. Firefighters secured the water and replaced the sprinkler head.

Six dorm rooms on the third floor of Phase 3 of Residential Life Village housing were affected. University spokeswoman Rosalee Rush said the 23 students were placed in other university housing, and the cause of the incident is under investigation.
