Modesto police investigating fatal DUI crash on Tully Road on Saturday afternoon
A man was killed and two other people suffered minor injuries in suspected DUI crashes Saturday afternoon, according to the Modesto police and fire departments.
The first crash was shortly after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Tully Road and Briggsmore Avenue, according to the Police Department.
The initial investigation found that a 37-year-old man driving a GMC Yukon east on Briggsmore collided with a vehicle at Tully and then went south on Tully Road and struck a second vehicle. As a result of the second crash, the driver lost control of the Yukon, which overturned.
The man was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital but did not survive.
A Fire Department incident summary indicates crews were dispatched at about 5:20 p.m. to the location of the second collision, in the area of Tully and Oakwood Drive, just south of Orangeburg Avenue.
There were no passengers in the GMC Yukon, and only minor injuries were reported by the other involved parties. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor, police said.
No identifying information on the Yukon driver, including city of residence, was available Sunday.
