How National Night Out was celebrated in communities across Stanislaus County
National Night Out, celebrated annually on the first Tuesday of August in most areas, brought residents out with neighbors, public safety personnel and others in communities across Stanislaus County.
Deputies and other personnel with the county Sheriff’s Office met residents primarily in parks, in Waterford, Riverbank, Salida, Patterson and Hughson.
Modesto police officers and support staff joined residents in parks and neighborhoods, doing things like introducing police dogs and horses and letting children sit on patrol motorcycles.
Children also explored firetrucks, including getting to sit behind the wheel. In Patterson, at least, they even got to feel the power of blasting a fire hose.
Activities also included the sharing of food, entertainment and information on keeping neighborhoods safe.
As the NNO website says, “National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.”
