A Modesto man died following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 99 Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred around 10:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes, north of Tuolumne Boulevard.

The 69-year-old driver of a Chevrolet pickup was in the fast lane when, for unknown reasons, he turned in an unsafe manner to the left, according to the CHP.

The front of the Chevy struck the center concrete barrier wall.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

It was unknown Friday afternoon if the driver died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision or was experiencing some other fatal medical condition.
