The Modesto man who died in a crash near the Modesto Airport has been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as 34-year-old Gerardo Fonseca-Andrade.

His wife and children suffered major injuries in the crash early Sunday morning on South McClure Road, north of Leckron Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Fonseca-Andrade was driving a 2014 Scion XB north when he crossed over the southbound lane and struck a big-rig trailer parked on the side of the road.

Fonseca-Andrade’s 29-year-old wife was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto and their daughters, ages 9 and 5, were flown to children’s hospitals in Sacramento and Madera. They are expected to survive.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash, according to the CHP.
