The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office is looking for the family of a Modesto woman who was found in an irrigation canal last month.

Fannie Holmes, 71, was found March 27 in the canal near the bridge that connects the Virginia Corridor Trail to Stoddard Avenue. There were about three inches of rainwater in the canal.

The cause of her death remains under investigation but Modesto police said there were no signs of trauma or any indication of a crime.

Family of Holmes or anyone with information about her family is asked to call the Coroner’s Office at 209-567-4480.
