Driver who died in wrong-way crash on Highway 132 identified

A wrong-way driver killed in a crash on Highway 132 west of Modesto last week has been identified as a San Jose resident.

Gilberto Llamas-Gutierrez, 28, was driving a Nissan pickup west in an eastbound lane of 132, west of Gates Road, at about 2:40 a.m. Thursday.

The Nissan crashed head-on with an eastbound big rig. Llamas-Gutierrez died at the scene.

The driver of the big rig, Gerardo Reyes, 32, and passenger Maria Reyes, 33, both of Lodi, suffered minor injuries. A 3-year old boy, who was properly seat-belted in the tractor’s sleeper berth area, was not injured. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
