Detours will remain longer than planned from Riverbank’s bridge over Stanislaus River
Daytime closures will last longer than planned on Riverbank’s bridge over the Stanislaus River.
The detours will be in place until 5 p.m. Friday, April 21, a week later than expected. The closures have run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays since April 3.
The bridge has closed so the city can repave First Street, which feeds traffic to the span from the south. The work extends as far south as Atchison Street.
Drivers needing to cross the river have to detour about three miles to McHenry Avenue, north of Modesto, or about eight miles to Highway 120 in Oakdale.
The bridge has remained opened on weekends and weekday evenings. First Street becomes Santa Fe Road at the bridge. Santa Fe runs about five miles northwest to Escalon.
