Man dies in wrong-way-driving crash on Highway 132

A man died in a wrong-way-driving collision on Highway 132 west of Modesto early Thursday morning.

The collision occurred west of Gates Road at about 2:40 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man, who has not been identified, was driving a Nissan pickup west in an eastbound lane of Highway 132.

The Nissan crashed head-on with an eastbound big rig. The driver died at the scene, according to the CHP.

The driver of the big rig, Gerardo Reyes, 32, and passenger Maria Reyes, 33, both of Lodi, suffered minor injuries.

A 3-year old boy, who was properly seat-belted in the tractor’s sleeper berth area, was not injured.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
